With more than 23 years of successful leadership in building high technology companies and delivering advanced products to market, Scott provides the overall strategic leadership and visionary direction for Azul Systems.
Scott has a consistent proven track record of vision, leadership, and success in enterprise, consumer and scientific markets. Prior to co-founding Azul Systems, Scott founded 3dfx Interactive, a graphics processor company. Scott served at 3dfx as Vice President of Engineering, CTO and as a member of the board of directors and delivered 7 award-winning products and developed 14 different chips. After a successful initial public offering, 3dfx was later acquired by NVIDIA Corporation.
Prior to 3dfx, Scott was a CPU systems architect at Pellucid, later acquired by MediaVision. Before Pellucid, Scott was a member of the technical staff at Silicon Graphics where he designed high-performance workstations.
Scott graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor of science, earning magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors. Scott has been granted 8 patents in high performance graphics and computing and is a regularly invited keynote speaker at industry conferences.

Gil Tene (Twitter: @giltene) is CTO and co-founder of Azul Systems. He has been involved with virtual machine technologies for the past 20 years and has been building Java technology-based products since 1995. Gil pioneered Azul's Continuously Concurrent Compacting Collector (C4), Java Virtualization, Elastic Memory, and various managed runtime and systems stack technologies that combine to deliver the industry's most scalable and robust Java platforms. Gil also represents Azul Systems on the JCP (Java Community Process) executive committee.
A frequent speaker and JavaOne "RockStar", in September 2013 Gil was named "JCP member/participant of the year" at an awards ceremony at JavaOne. In 2006 he was named one of the Top 50 Agenda Setters in the technology industry by Silicon.com.
Prior to co-founding Azul, Gil held key technology positions at Nortel Networks, Shasta Networks and at Check Point Software Technologies, where he delivered several industry-leading traffic management solutions including the industry's first Firewall-1 based security appliance. He architected operating systems for Stratus Computer, clustering solutions at Qualix/Legato, and served as an officer in the Israeli Navy Computer R and D unit.

EVP Global Field Operations
Eric Graber has over 25 years of experience in the Enterprise Software and Services industry, much of that time focused on building successful relationships with the Global 1000. Mr. Graber is responsible for expanding Azul’s global field presence, leading sales, field architecture and consulting services.
Prior to joining Azul, Mr. Graber was Vice President, Global Sales for Kabira Technologies. Kabira, now part of Tibco, created high performance in-memory transaction processing solutions for the telecommunications and financial services industries.
Mr. Graber has also held leadership positions at Traiana focused on mid- and back-office trading solutions, CSC – Enterprise Cloud, Serena Software, Sybase, and Legent Corporation and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Mathematics from San Jose State University.
Eric enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 sprouting children.
Anya Chernyak (Barski)
Vice President of Engineering
Anya Chernyak (Barski) is Vice President of Engineering for Azul Systems where she's responsible for the development, delivery and customer support for all products including Zing, Azul's groundbreaking high-performance Java Virtual Machine.
During her nearly 20 years of technical, engineering, and operational leadership experience Anya has held a variety of roles at global corporations and Silicon Valley startups. Anya came to Azul from Advenira Enterprises, a breakthrough thin film technology company where she was the Chief Operating Officer, building out and expanding company infrastructure and operations. Before that, Ms Chernyak was the CEO of Yandex Labs and VP of Engineering at Yandex, the largest Russian Internet and search engine company.
Prior to joining Yandex, Anya worked for Sun Microsystems for 11 years in a variety of leadership roles building and running strong multifunctional multinational software engineering organizations delivering Sun Java and developer products. During her tenure at Sun she envisioned and founded the St. Petersburg Development Center (SPBDC) and developed it into a major Sun global engineering site and a key contributor to flagship Sun software products, including Java, JCK, and Java Studio.
Anya Chernyak holds a Master of Science in Physics and Master of Science in Education from the State Polytechnical University, St. Petersburg, Russia.

George W. Gould
Vice President of Business Development
With more than 26 years of experience in marketing, product management and technical sales at leading enterprise hardware and software companies, George provides business strategy for Azul Systems.
Prior to joining Azul, George was Business Unit Executive at BEA Systems, running the AquaLogic Service Bus Platform group. Other positions at BEA included Managing Director of the AquaLogic Center of Excellence and Director and Business Manager of BEA’s TP Platform, including BEA Tuxedo.
Before joining BEA, George was Co-founder and Vice President of Products for Rearden Commerce, a SaaS-based enterprise services company. He was also Director of Products and Marketing at Amplitude Software, acquired by CriticalPath in 1999, and at CenterView Software, acquired by Informix in 1997.
Additionally, George has held marketing, sales and engineering positions at Pyramid Technology and Digital Medical Systems. George holds an MBA from Berkeley and a BSEE from Tufts University.
Howard brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing, public relations, and business development at Silicon Valley-based hardware and software companies, and provides Marketing leadership for Azul Systems.
Prior to joining Azul in 2010, Howard was responsible for business development, partner programs, and product management at Kabira Technologies. Kabira (acquired by Tibco in 2010) was an in-memory transaction processing pioneer, providing high-performance systems for the electronic payments industry and Tier 1 wireless service providers.
Before joining Kabira, Howard was a marketing consultant at clients including CollabNet and Tropos Networks.
Additionally, Howard has founded or co-founded two Bay Area-based startups and managed Product and/or Corporate Marketing at companies including iPass, Corsair Communications, and MicroModule Systems. Howard began his career with Digital Equipment Corporation in New York City. He holds an MA from Columbia University and a BA from Columbia College.
Michael J. Field
Vice President of Administration and Legal Affairs
Mike is a seasoned senior executive and entrepreneur with over 25 years experience in technology and a demonstrated track record with respect to legal, business development, and business and technology management.
Prior to coming to Azul, Mike was Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs and the head of international business development for STI, a public technology company specializing in providing hardware solutions for the cellular communications industry.
Prior to STI, Mike served as Vice President and General Counsel for HPL Technologies, Inc. a public enterprise software company located in San Jose, CA. Prior to HPL, Mike was Executive VP and Chief Administrative Officer as well as one of the 3 founders of domainLogix, an enterprise software provider which was subsequently acquired. Additionally, Mike has served as senior Vice president and chief administrative officer for 3 Silicon Valley headquartered public technology corporations.
Mike holds a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and a B.A. from San Jose State University. He is a licensed attorney in California.
Vice President of Systems Engineering
Elias brings more than 25 years of experience in developing large scale systems and switches to his role of leading the Systems Engineering and Operations teams at Azul. Previously at Azul, Elias was Senior Director of System Design, where he led the development of multi-processor and highly scalable server appliances.
Prior to Azul, Elias was Director of Hardware Engineering at Afara Web Systems where he led the development of multi-processor bladed systems, and prior was engineering manager at Brocade communications where he was responsible for the development of multi-port Fibre channel switch systems. Prior to Brocade, Elias held various positions at Sclumberger, architecting custom ASICs used in high speed waveform generators, and managing the development of large scale memory and VLSI test systems.
Elias holds MSEE and BSEE degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from California State University at Northridge. He has been granted three patents in computer and server technology.
Prior to co-founding Azul Systems, Shyam was Vice President of Software Engineering for the IP Services business unit at Nortel Networks, having joined Nortel through their acquisition of Shasta Networks. At Shasta Networks, Shyam led the software development organization, from inception to product delivery, for the innovative Shasta Broadband IP Services Platform.
Shyam was Director of Software Engineering at ZeitNet/Cabletron where he led the development of various ATM products and core ATM protocol software. Shyam also held management and engineering positions at Hewlett Packard, where he led several TCP/IP, OSI and STREAMS development projects on their Real Time and UNIX platforms.
Shyam holds a MSCS degree from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree from IIT, Madras, India. He has been granted 12 patents in high performance computing and communications.
