Azul Systems Names Ram Appalaraju Vice President of Marketing

Mountain View, Calif. – November 30, 2006 – Azul Systems, the award-winning leader of enterprise server appliances for business critical Java™ applications, today announced the appointment of Ram Appalaraju as vice president of marketing, responsible for worldwide marketing strategy and execution of Azul Systems' enterprise server solutions.

With more than 23 years of information technology-related experience, Appalaraju brings deep technical expertise in the areas of systems architectures, operating environments, middleware, and IT transformation services. He has offered extensive consultative guidance for Global 1000 customers on business and IT topics, and has authored several technical articles. Prior to Azul, Ram was a vice president at HP, responsible for leading a company-wide marketing strategy and execution of Adaptive Enterprise solutions for enterprise customers. During his 11 years at HP, Ram held a number of senior marketing executive positions for servers and systems software, including HP's Unix system software. Prior to HP, Ram held marketing management roles at Digital Equipment Corp. and General Electric.

"Ram has tremendous experience, a proven track record and joins a very well accomplished team at Azul," said Stephen DeWitt, president and chief executive officer of Azul Systems. "Ram has earned the admiration and respect in the industry and is a great addition in helping us deliver competitive solutions to customers during a time of major change in the data center."

"To create the modern data center based on SOA and Web 2.0 technologies, reliance on Java is at an all time high. Azul is the only company that provides an underlying infrastructure that has been created from the ground up to meet the needs of today's Java applications, and I look forward to helping the company tell that impressive story and build its presence," said Appalaraju.
