MOUNTAIN VIEW, California – June 27, 2005– Azul Systems™ Inc. today announced that it has an agreement with BEA Systems, a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, to deliver network attached processing to BEA WebLogic customers. Network attached processing can help enable BEA customers to drive down the cost of deploying a service-oriented architecture (SOA). Azul has pioneered the industry's first network attached processing solution designed to unbound compute resources for Java™ and J2EE™ platform-based enterprise applications. BEA has been testing Azul technology in its Liberty Corner N.J. lab, and has been working closely with Azul engineers since last fall. Additional joint activities include strategic customer engagements and marketing activities. Deployed in compute pools, Azul Compute Appliances can help to eliminate capacity planning for individual applications and are designed to host hundreds of applications simultaneously while providing dynamic access to additional compute resources to meet peak application workloads. Such power can help offer enterprise customers application scalability at better economics, and can help provide a platform designed to help accelerate the consolidation of applications and their associated server infrastructure. Azul Compute Appliances are designed to be transparently deployed into customers' infrastructure without requiring any change to their existing server or operating environments. "Azul Systems has created the industry's first network attached processing solution that is designed for the middleware required for a service-oriented architecture. On the Azul Compute Appliance, each instance of BEA WebLogic can run in a dynamic partition as if it *is* the operating system,” said Shahin Khan , chief marketing officer, Azul Systems. "BEA and Azul are helping to define a newer, simpler and better way of bringing the SOA to online transaction processing." “Service-oriented architectures can help to enable companies to unify their infrastructures, which can help to maximize business value and improve their competitive position,” said Bill Roth , vice president of product marketing for BEA Systems. “Azul Systems can provide a compelling solution to help achieve these goals faster and more cost-effectively. We look forward to working with Azul to bring the benefits of network attached processing to our customers.”About Azul Systems Azul Systems, Azul, and the Azul arch logo are trademarks of Azul Systems, Inc. in the United States and other countries.
