MOUNTAIN VIEW, California – June 29, 2005 – Azul Systems™ Inc. today announced that it is partnering with JBoss, Inc., the Professional Open Source company, to promote network attached processing on the JBoss Application Server. Azul pioneered the industry's first network attached processing solution designed to drive down the cost and complexity of providing compute resources for virtual machine-based applications such as those based on the Java™ and J2EE™ platforms. Combining the Azul™ Compute Appliance with the open source JBoss Application Server creates compelling cost efficiencies that will drive down the total cost of ownership (TCO) for data centers that are expanding their Java-based deployments. As a Certified Solution Partner, Azul will work with JBoss to certify interoperability between the Azul Systems compute appliance and the JBoss Application Server. Deployed in compute pools, Azul Compute Appliances, which eliminate the need to plan capacity at the individual application level, can host tens or hundreds of applications simultaneously and provide dynamic access to additional compute resources to meet peak application work loads. Such power offers enterprise customers unprecedented capacity at the best possible economics while providing an ideal platform to accelerate the consolidation of applications and their associated server infrastructure. Azul compute appliances are transparently deployed into customers' infrastructure without requiring any change to their existing server or operating environments. Virtual machine environments represent the dominant model for today's business application development. Gartner estimates that 50 percent of all new business applications are being developed to such platforms today, a figure that will reach 80 percent by 2008. With its zero-cost software license, the JBoss Application Server offers customers a cost effective option in deploying this type of architecture within enterprise datacenters. “Our alliance with JBoss creates a complete, industrial-strength eco-system that will enable data centers to architect large-scale Java-based deployments on a cost-effective open source model,” said Shahin Khan , chief marketing officer, Azul Systems. “We look forward to providing the Open Source community with a solution for meeting the resource requirements of today's most demanding applications.” “With JBoss open source middleware reaching mass adoption levels, JBoss is focused on ensuring that enterprise customers will have a wide range of third-party solutions to support their deployments,” said Tom Cooper, vice president of worldwide channels, JBoss, Inc. “This partnership with Azul Systems will offer enterprises a tested, certified and support network attached processing solution that can substantially optimize computing resources for their Java applications.”About Azul Systems Azul Systems, Azul, and the Azul arch logo are trademarks of Azul Systems, Inc. in the United States and other countries.
