The Zing™ JVM Supercharges Java-Based Insurance Industry Applications
Java-based applications are critical to the operations of many insurance companies. Key platforms such as customer and agent portals, quoting systems and claim and incident reporting applications are key to providing great customer service, reducing costs and meeting regulatory requirements.
These applications have heavy, unpredictable transaction loads and data-intensive operations and are coming under increased pressure as more activity is pushed to online systems. At the same time, customer and agent expectations have risen for response time and availability and cost pressure has grown. IT organizations are expected to provide greater capacities with better consistency while achieving lower TCO.
Unfortunately, Java Virtual Machines (JVMs) – the very bytecode engine that gives Java its power and versatility -- are at the root of much of the difficulties in meeting these demands, since Java infrastructures haven’t kept pace with the latest technology trends or advancements over the last decade. Traditional Java infrastructures are limited in a number of problematic ways that prevent applications from meeting business goals. These include rigid limits on heap size, instability under load, management complexity and extensive tuning requirements.
